Gena Rowlands (Madison, Wisconsin; 19 de junio de 1930 - Indian Wells, California; 14 de agosto de 2024) fue una actriz estadounidense, ganadora del premio Oscar.

En las audiciones, otros estudiantes podían pasar en cualquier momento para ver a los nuevos actores, y John -que luego sería mi marido- estaba allí cuando me tocó el turno. Me vio... y le dijo a mi amiga, que estaba junto él: "Me voy a casar con ella". Y luego vino y habló conmigo entre bambalinas y fue muy amable; pero yo pensé: "No te comprometas". Así que no salimos ni enrollamos durante un tiempo. De vez en cuando, coincidíamos tomando un café, y él me preguntaba si quería salir, y yo le decía: "No, no me interesa salir con nadie. Voy a ser actriz". Y así siguió la cosa hasta que me gradué».
